Section 225
Expiry date or expiration date

(1) Notwithstanding anything else written in this code, if someone applies to the relevant court for suspension within the following period stating that the due date has passed due to circumstances beyond his control as described below, the court will order the suspension of such expired date or date:-
(a) If a person who is required to appear in court has died and according to tradition, he himself has to mourn a kiriya or a kiriya-like person, seven days from the date of the death of such a person, excluding the period of travel,
(b) If the person required to appear in the court is a woman and has given birth, sixty days from the date of delivery excluding the period of travel,
(c) If the road is closed due to flood, landslide or snow or curfew has been declared or any other reason, the means of public transport does not operate within the time limit to appear in the court, fifteen days excluding the date of opening of the road or the means of public transport,
(d) If there is a disaster like earthquake or volcano within the period to appear in the court, ten days from the date of occurrence excluding the time limit for the journey,
(e) If the person required to appear in court has been abducted or held hostage by someone, fifteen days after the date of release from such abduction or hostage, (f) Fifteen days if the person required to appear in the court is unconscious and unable to move due to an accident or is unable to move due to a disabled patient and is admitted to a hospital approved by the Government of Nepal.
(2) In accordance with sub-section (1) with the application to suspend the period or date that has passed, the evidence necessary to confirm the circumstances under that sub-section must be attached.
